Sixteen year old Nova Knox, all the way up into her sophomore year of highschool, had always hated group projects. Then one project with a strange partner unexpectedly turns her whole life around.
Abe Sum had lived in Willow Springs just as long as Nova had. Yet, due to his choice of friends and lifestyle, she never gave herself much time to get to know him.
When one group project in her Advanced Computer Applications class forces the two of them to spend time together outside of fourth hour, Nova finds herself learning things about Abe that she had never expected of him. Just like she had never expected the two of them to become friends until they nearly get caught by the cops together.
Nova finds that it's a bumpy road being friends with Abe Sum, but no matter how bad he messes up, she eventually realizes that whatever has formed between them, it goes way beyond their group project.
