Advances in medical research and a depletion in human population has led to the development of Project Next Gen. Scientists worked tirelessly to create the next generation of humans in laboratories and factories. In the process of making the perfect human, many attempts were made and considered as failures. These subjects were later sent to The Museum of Biological Development. This museum was opened to the public for tours to help show people the progress that had been made towards a better and brighter future. 

Eighteen year old Arien and his parents decided to take a tour of the museum. In the process of admiring all of the human-like creatures, Arien got left behind on the tour and wound up getting lost. That is when he stumbled upon the most beautiful creature of all. Project 923, or better named, Cole. 

This is a short story created for the Creature Feature Contest through the LGBTQ Contests Book. This is the first contest I have ever taken part in so please don't judge me too harshly.

XX09 is the child of experiments X03 and CY05. XX09 is the latest creation and also the best. He has his own soul, personality, and feelings. Unlike experments beore him. Or maybe he can just express himself better? Anther thing. You can't just call XX09 a 'he' you have to take account he was also born a girl. But he's a boy. Confused? Good. I will have her keep working with him. He will speak. February 23rd, 2018 He is standing. His bones are still fragile, but he is gaining muscle rapidly. This is incredible progress in such little time. Everything is going as planned, though his fingernails are black. They weren't black yesterday. March 13th, 2018 Ellie attacked Ripley last night. He will be kept in restraints from now on. March 27th, 2018 My God he is strong. The mysterious blackness that had formed in his fingernails is now flowing in his veins. Whatever this black liquid is, it's possessing him. April 4th, 2018 He bit me last night. I can feel the mystery in my veins. What is this? April 5th, 2018 Test subject three-eleven-thirteen, Ellie, will no longer be a patient of mine. I have locked him up in a cell in my lab. I fear him. He will stay in that cell for God knows how long until he starves to death. I am a coward. April 6th, 2018 I can't tolerate this. I think I'm truly losing it. My memories, my spirit, I feel them being eaten by this black virus. I have to end this tonight. I have to end myself tonight. I have too. Ripley, my sweet daughter, I love you baby. I am sorry for creating that abomination. I am so sorry.
