When Scarlett Rivers' long term boyfriend of two years comes to her house late at night- drunk, she then discovers his secret. He was always a sweetheart, he knew the right words to say, he made her feel loved-- but it was all an act. He wasn't her knight and shining armor, no. He was a manipulative conceited jerk that only cared about taking her virginity, and when he got what he wanted- he left, leaving Scarlett to deal with the pain and hurt of being heartbroken. From then on, she turned her back on love and focused on building her walls up higher so that no one would ever be able to hurt her again.

Then comes Carter Beckett, the mysterious bad boy. He isn't one to open up easily. He, alike Scarlett, built his walls high enough and that kept him safe. He doesn't trust anyone, especially not a stranger. But what happens when he meets Scarlett, a girl just as troubled as he is? Would he be able to help her, and she him? Or would he be stubborn and turn his back on her, just like he did to everyone else?

(Book 2) *Contains spoilers below* "I needed more closure than what you gave me." I half lied. "It feels like an open wound someone keeps pouring salt on." His expression remained hard and cold. Almost distant. "I don't know what you want from me, Willow. You coming here isn't closing any wounds, it's just opening up old ones." I let out a sigh and rubbed my hands over my face. "I just needed to see you, okay? It's a relief to know you're even alive right now." I was begging myself not to cry. Noah shifted a little and folded his arms against his chest. "I don't know what you want me to say." "Anything is better than nothing." I said as I took a step closer. "I missed you. A lot." He peeked from under the mess of curls falling over his eyes. "You want me to tell you I missed you too? Is that what you're doing here?" I clenched my jaw shut and curled my fingers into fists at my sides. "I don't want anything from you." Scott isn't gone...yet. But he still refuses to let Noah go without harming anyone Noah cares about. It's been nine months since Scott took Noah under his wing and moved away from California. Willow hasn't seen either of them since the night Noah left with the promise to come back. When Willow finds Noah, she didn't expect what she finds. Noah's completely transformed into something she never thought she would see again. Besides the arrogant, obnoxious attitude, came countless tattoos, a ring through his lip, and a new name. With Scott still lingering and Noah's new found attitude, there's bound to be a little trouble. Way more than Willow bargained for. And maybe, just maybe, Scott isn't the real enemy.
