When I was a kid I used to believe that fairy tales were real. I grew up believing that one day I would find my Prince Charming like Cinderella, and live Happily Ever After. Little did I know life does not work that way. I am Nancy Collins, a 23 year-old woman who is returning home to Majorca. I haven't been there since I decided to study in the U.S. Will everything be the same just like I remember? Will things be the same with my family and friends? My Childhood Sweetheart
A lot of people say that a childhood sweetheart is a normal process of growing up. Each one of us here in this world has once or twice experienced this kind of feeling. Well, what I'm about to share is something extraordinary. I met her when I was only eight-years-old, she had this beautiful hair with a tinge of sunlight that flows like a silk. Her eyes were like emeralds, and her lips, red as an apple. She had a fair complexion with light freckles on her cheeks. I saw her during the summer. It was a bright and beautiful sunny day by the lake. The trees were still full of rich green leaves and there were little dandelion flowers all over the grass field and there she was, sitting by the rock. I introduced myself, but the only problem was, she couldn't speak. So, she wrote her name in the dirt. She was about a year younger than me. I told her about mine. Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, she knew them all. She had always been hopeful to have a fairy tale of her own. As she grew older she hit the truth of reality. Fairy tales don't ever come true. Although there is one boy who can change her mind, the only question is will her choose to? Buckle down for a novel with many flips and twist as Alana continues on her journey in high school to find a Prince Charming. My mom brought the evil home with her and there was no escaping it. That's when I learned that fairy tales were just that: fairy tales. The bad stuff is real, though. The difference is that I now know that the monsters and evil villains don't always wear capes and ugly scars. No: most of the time, they appear normal. I'm drowning in reality, in my life, and I've given up hope that a knight in shining armor will rescue me. But maybe... maybe I don't need a Prince Charming after all.
