While technology was still in its infancy in the late 80s, an increasing number of people claimed to have access to computers and the Internet. Technology allowed the "Brotherhood of Silence" to record and share their actions with a large audience.
Criminal cases pique the curiosity of Ellis Reese. One of these, from ten years ago, particularly appeals to a future young lawyer who veered from the correct path upon discovering that the rule of law did not permit punishment for those who were not treated equally with others. The fire at the Fletcher estate, where the whole family perished, piques his curiosity. The accident hasn't been discussed much because it was a taboo subject for all. Whenever he tried to find out more, everything immediately ran away from him, as though it was trying to protect him from the reality.
The youngster investigates the case anyway, not realizing that the murderer is likely much closer than he appears, and is actively searching for him.
