Ever since she was little, Lark Steel has had a voice in her head guiding her through life. What many refer to as a conscience is so much more than that. Lark's conscience isn't a feeling, or an intuition.

She used to be a real person. And she's looking for revenge.

As Lark approaches her sixteenth birthday, her life begins to change. The voice in her head doesn't just give her advice anymore; now, she's issuing demands. It's up to Lark to avenge her conscience's death. But can she do it without ending up dead, just like the voice in her head?
