A person who can see things that are in no way normal sees all creatures and monsters starting a revolution against humanity. She can't do anything that she knows of, until she gets confronted by Death himself. He says that if she follows the terms he laid out, he will stop the invasion, but if she didn't comply, she would forcefully be done so.
She didn't have to reply right away, but was suggested to do so before the carnival is over. Now she has the decision to make to save herself or humanity.

I was mid rewrite on this book so at some point the story jumps and shifts gears. Sorry not sorry. I'll adjust eventually.
