"The Banshees were a street gang unlike any other. People blabber about groups of a hundred people at most that would make no more than a thousand victims, maybe less. But these people...they were something else. With over ten thousand members and at least twelve times as many victims, they could easily be considered the most powerful organization in the United States. Everyone, from normal citizens from the president, was terrified by them. Every single person had prepared themselves in case they'd be attacked. When you heard "we are coming" on TV, preceded by your city's name, you knew you'd have to fight for your life. No one was spared when they came, and Jeffrey had learned it at a terrible cost; his sister. He's been keeping a burning hatred for the gang since the tragic event. Maybe that hatred was one of the few things Smith and he shared." (paragraph from chapter 1)
Jeffrey lost his sister to his father, a member of the gang. Even three years later, the Banshees are going strong, perhaps even stronger. The news are all over them, as if enthralled by their crimes. But enough is enough, Jeffrey thinks. When his roommate, Smith, tells him about the actions other people and he are taking, the boy decides to join in.
And so it begins.
