in 2074 the world fell under the apocalypse only it was different to what we had foreseen, the commet that was to hit earth did not wipe out all of civilization but started a sickness that caused all the adults to die. Some children and teenagers caught this virus and caused them to turn into blood drinking monsters, as for the animals they became mutated and started eating humans. Survival is hard. So you're either trying to survive and kill the monsters or you are a monster.
