We were studying Tennyson's 'Ulysses' in college, recently. Throughout my classes, I could not help but think, "Well, Ulysses may have abandoned all his responsibilities to go and do the la-di-da but did his family, his wife and son, be okay with that sort of desertion? I don't think so. What would the thoughts of a wife of so uncaring a man be? Also, no offense to anyone but he was an imbecile of the first order for having the gall to imply that now, that his wife was old, he'd be going on the Grand Tour because if Penelope is old, so is he!"
As a result, I was compelled to write something from Penelope's point of view.

How I Saved the World (Or So They Told Me)
Pen's uncle is a cop, and ever since she was able to crawl, she was being versed in the arts of stranger danger (and possibly a few karate, ninja-like moves). So when some unknown guy begins to chat her up through her car window, and then goes on to watch her as she drives away, she does what she's been taught: she goes to the cops. However, this turns out to be the least suspicious thing to occur in the following week. A new boy at Penelope's school invites her over to dinner, and suddenly she's being informed that she's involved in a prophecy (which was written on, excuse me, is that toilet paper?) to help stop an evil mastermind named Sir Dastardly and reclaim the prized Purity Crystal. Pen's reaction? (Well, after she goes a little crazy with her stun gun.) For reasons she still can't explain, to help him and his family take down Sir Dastardly and-so they tell her-to help save the world. Well, not all evil plots end the way we assume, right? Regency era, alternative story about Charlotte Heywood and Sidney Parker. Sidney's mother is pushing him to marry and marry well to save the family from ruin. His pursuit is Mrs. Campion, a wealthy widow with a horrible personality. On the verge of asking her to marry him, he goes on a hunting trip to clear his head. What happens on this hunting trip changes his path in life forever. Sidney POV When I first had the idea for this story, I pictured a bear attacking Sidney. But doing research I found that bears are not common wild animals in England. I'm American and live in a state where bears are common. In doing research, I found that in the regency era there were wild cats that were referred to as phantom cats, panthers, jaguars, or leopards. Although, some accounts claim there is no such thing and stories were exaggerated. Anyway, for story purposes, this phantom cat exists. I know it may not sound realistic, but as I said before, there were stories about these wild cats in some of my research. I also came across stories of the aristocratic and higher class bringing these exotic animals to England to show off and look grander to others. It reminded me of someone purchasing a dog as a puppy, thinking it'll be great. Then months later realizing these cute puppies grow up and destroy your home and chew everything up. I pictured a rich woman insisting she have one of these pure black cats on one of her many voyages to far off lands and her rich husband buying her the exotic animal. Then as this cat grew and suddenly the realization that it's a wild animal and could potentially kill someone, these high society people may just decide to let the animal go in the woods to fend for himself. Now this cat is alone in a land he doesn't belong and trying to survive, perhaps resenting man for the cruel way he was treated. Now I feel sorry for the panther. Anyway, that's the backstory on the panther and why it may be in a place it's not supposed to be.Terminé

"I'm not aborting my baby!" I feel strong hands wrap around my throat, and the next thing I know, I'm being lifted off the floor, fighting for air. "Listen here, you bitch you will abort that child, and if you don't, I'll personally kill you both myself. I'm a man of my word. Do not test me." He spat dead calm. Elora finds herself in a sticky position when her brother was in a terrible car accident, leading to an expensive medical bill that neither of them could afford. Her parents died when she was young, leaving her brother as her sole guardian. The two had been incredibly close over the years, and she had to find a way to help him in his current position. She had no choice but to sleep with a man she knew nothing about for money to cover the hospital bill, but later found out she was pregnant. The worst-case scenario is that the father wants nothing to do with her and the unborn child. After three years of guilt, pain, and regret, the two cross paths once more, and Elora struggles to make the right decisions as he was determined to be in their little girl's life. How I Saved the World (Again, Apparently)
Having just graduated, Penelope is ready to kick back and enjoy her last summer before college starts. However, a few things stand in her way. First, there's the fact that Xavier and Gray have both sent her vague emails that maybe, possibly, mean "want to go out with me." (And her answer, in both cases, is, "When did I trip and fall into a teen romance novel?") Second, her parents are becoming a bit suspicious about the amount of times she's sneaking off to go "paint Eliza's brother's toenails." In any case, this codeword wasn't bound to last long. Third, and most importantly, Sir Dastardly decided to make a grand entrance (although really, when you insist on wearing a top hat taller than your arm is long, any entrance is grand) and announce that the world is in peril once more and only Pen can save it.
