In the final weeks before Thanksgiving break, Imogene's life takes a catastrophic turn. What begins as an ordinary winter cold - with headaches, sinus pressure, and fatigue - evolves into a global nightmare. Some begin dropping dead, coughing up blood in horrifying scenes that you would only see in the movies. The worst part of all of this comes when the dead don't stay down. Just before finals Imogene and her classmates witness a car crash. People began surrounding the car attacking with unrelenting fury and tearing into flesh with their teeth. Chaos erupts, and the world begins to crumble around her. Fleeing to the safety of her family home, Imogene finds an unexpected ally waiting for her: Sam, a colleague of her father's. Together, they set out on a dangerous journey through cities teeming with the infected. Along the way, they form unlikely bonds with other survivors, finding moments of humanity amid the devastation. Holidays are celebrated in bittersweet fashion, friendships are forged, and courage is tested as the group fights to survive against overwhelming odds. But with the infected growing more relentless and humanity's future hanging by a thread, Imogene must confront the ultimate question: How far will she go to save the people she loves?
