Dedicated? Supportive? Independent AND running the world's most competitive dance studio on her own? That's what makes Miss Kate a highly regarded studio owner at The Next Step and the dance world, even more so after the studio takes home the Internationals trophy, with all the deserving credit falling towards the dancers alone, only very few recognizing and not enough appreciating how much she's truly done for the team.  However, an unexpected encounter at the bus home leads her to a charming, lonely stranger, an exuberant stage actor with just as much love and admiration for the arts as she, who takes an instant liking to her, showing her the appreciation and support she has always longed for and never had for the longest time.  The more time he spends with Kate, the more he turns her world and The Next Step upside down and the Next Step dancers alongside her eccentric sister Phoebe dig deeper, devising a plan to uncover the secrets to this budding friendship, suspecting an almost-romance that some see as a distraction from everything The Next Step has ever worked for or an exciting new stage of life they've never seen her take on unlike ever before...falling in love! With an internationally renowned dance studio to run with their first-ever publicly acclaimed dance recital on the way and a new man in her life who started making her realize that she's more than just another face in the crowd, Miss Kate embarks on a journey far more challenging than ever before filled with first-times, first-loves, and a roller coaster of tough decisions that won't just affect the team but change her entire life, probably for good. Restricted to the confinement of their house, she's slowly going slightly crazy. But she doesn't exactly have anyone to talk to - Hunter left the studio ages ago, and Stephanie and Giselle haven't been around in months. Being the people they are, both Riley and Emily try and keep their struggles to themselves - it's just easier that way. But surely everything can't stay hidden forever...
