1st book in the FTBS series. Cassie's dream is to become chief detective , but at the moment she is stuck as an apprentice to the bossy Colin Sherlock in the busy city of Auckland ,New Zealand.                                     

Soon a killer, the Black Shadow, is believed to be lurking the streets, and                                    as the violence in Cassie's home grows, and more bodies are found, 
Cassie is thrust out of her small home in suburban Auckland and into the deep,dark streets of Auckland.                                          

Cassie is heading further and further away from her neighbourhood, and she soon realises that the killings seem to be following her...And so is the killer.               -finished. There will be themes of suicide in this book as the heroine comes to terms with what happened to her.
