Science Fiction
Meet Rowan. Some would say she is just your average teenager, with interests in boys, bands, and fashion. Others, however, would say she's not. But, these people aren't exactly normal themselves. They are the outcasts, sent off to live in an alternate universe, created only for them. These are the artists, musicians, the idealists, and the creative. In a world of conformity, these people stand out in bright colors and their unique personality. For that, they are given a trial. In such trials, they are given the choice to change their ways and to become like the normal, shedding their colorful garb for the drab chromatic colors, and disposing of their creative utensils in turn for a laptop and a briefcase. Their other choice is to be cast out. Sent off to a world inhabited by few. A world where they have to fight for their lives, barely surviving. Many given this choice chose to be cast out for the sake of themselves. In this other world, they are allowed to keep their color and creativity, but life is completely different. With gangs running rampant on the streets, crime at a high, and strange creature in this world, the different must fend for themselves, but many meet a terrible fate. When Rowan is put on trial, her fate is clear to her. She chooses the alternate world, believing she would be free to be who she is. Without knowing the struggles of this other world, Rowan states proudly that she will be sent away. Upon arrival, she realizes that life is very different from what she expected. Rowan now has to fight for survival in the world that wants to kill her. Rowan is different, however. She isn't like the others who are cast out. Rowan has special abilities that no other has. With her abilities and some help from people she meets along the way, will she be able to change the world to make it safe for the different? Or will she die trying?

⚠️ MATURE⚠️ This story contains strong use of language and mature scenes. If you are offended easily do not read. •.• I snuggled into the comfortable warmth of the fluffy pillow as I was eager to go back to sleep. The fan lullabied me into a hazy state. Suddenly, a heavy weight landed on my waist, pulling me from the tired daze. I leaned up in shock as my hands flung forward defensively to push whoever was on me off. With a strong force, my shoulders were shoved backwards and into the mattress. Grunts of struggle filled the room as we fought each other. The offender grabbed my wrists and held them firmly above my head with one strong hand. Sobs of terror escaped from my chest as a thumb caressed my cheek to wipe away the spilled tears. "P-please let go of me," I begged, trembling. "You are so beautiful." A man's voice spoke, his large hand leaving my face and traveling down my body to squeeze my pelvic region. "Stop." I screeched, my demand ricocheting between the four bedroom walls. The man growled darkly. "If you scream again, I will kill you." I nodded keenly in response to show that I would not challenge his threat. His hand slowly freed my mouth, testing if I would disobey him. He reached into his pocket. A knife, zip tie, and a rag were all revealed. The view made me realize that this could be my last chance to get help. If I did not call out right now, he would take me. I would not make it out alive either way. I let out a bloodcurdling scream loud enough to wake up the whole neighborhood.
