Abira Classur is a deaf, 16 year old girl. Her life isn't perfect and she can't imagine how it could ever be. Her 19 year old sister is a rebellious teenager, yet is the only one who seems to listen to her. Her twin brother Chris hardly notices anybody when his girlfriend Macy is around. Her best friend, Marco, is also deaf and can tend to be overprotective of her because of what he's lived through. But things can change. People can change. And you can meet the one person, who seemingly can give you a fantasy.

Although the very presence of each other gives them new hope and strength, things are difficult as Louisa thrives by using her hearing, while Alex shies away from sound and uses sight. Without being able to communicate easily, they must learn to overcome the barrier of the silence between them, which is easier said than done.
