The Space Marines of the Deathwatch take on some of the most desperate battles that citizens of the Emperium have never heard of. The Marines of the Kill Team designated Death's Head were sent on a mission to assassinate an Ork leader on a distant planet in order to sow discord among the Greenskin ranks and soften them up ahead of the Imperial Guard invasion. They have seventy-two hours to get in, kill the Ork Warboss, get to the extraction zone, and get out.

But something isn't right.

Something watches the team from the shadows.

And its hungry.

"Just send a message back to HQ. See what their response is." "I can't." The entire room seemed to stand on end. "What the hell do you mean, 'I can't'?! You're the captain of this mission!" Lime exclaimed. "I can't. When Blue and Orange came in, Comms had suddenly shut down." The room burst into panic and chaos again, but all Vac'shar could do was smirk. Hunter and prey. And now when the time to strike appeared again, they would be ready. Everyone is the hero in their own story. With the world stacked against him, Vac'shar has still managed to raise his son and protect him from anyone else who might try and kill them both. But when Tenavik shows interest in the missions, what else could Vac'shar do other than let him come along with him and advocate for his dreams? Who's to blame when the blood flows? "In the ruthless universe of the far future there is only war." That is something that Kanan Scott knew very well. After two hundred years or more, as he never counted, he thought that his death would give him the opportunity for eternal rest in the Warhammer 40k universe. He could never be more wrong. A tragic twist in his fate, and regained memories of his past life as a Space Marine, caused his mind to undergo an abrupt rupture just to indulge the whims of an entity beyond his understanding. Now, risen from the very depths of the earth, with his green skin and uncontrollable anger, he has only one mission in life for him. Put an end to what he "swore" to protect.
