"You know nothing! Of course I would hurt you, it's what I do, it's what I've been told to do."

"Well then do it why don't you?" She challenged. She really thought I wouldn't hurt her.

"Please leave, little runt. I don't think I could handle putting you through this."

For a second she seemed to soften at the use of her old nickname, but then it seemed to make her even angrier than before.

"I'm not a runt any longer, if I was I wouldn't have made it through now would I?" And with that she pushed past me. I wish that was it, that I could let her go but unfortunately, I had another task.

"Fine then have it your way runt. But remember, you wanted this."

And with that I pulled her to me, she had the most frightened look in her eyes, maybe I had grabbed her a little to tightly.

If I hadn't then I certainly was now, I had a vice grip as I tilted her head and pushed away her gorgeously curled hair.

"Ni-nik? What-"

"Shhh darling runt, I told you. You should have run."

"Wanted to be bold." I blush while I avoid eye contact. "Devin needed to borrow clothes for gym." I stare at my bare legs. "I should've told her no." He shrugs, biting into his sub. "Not a fan of exposing the body." I nibble on my burrito. "I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea." I tuck my hair behind my ear. "That you're easy." My face reddens as I look at him in the corner of my eyes. After a few moments, I nod. He sighs. "The only thing that makes a girl easy is if she lets every and any guy inside." He runs his fingers through his hair. "Clothes or attitude has nothing to do with it." I trace a circle on my thigh. "And a guy that believes otherwise is either a dick or a rapist." I smile. "Avery." "Ava." "Your brain works in wonderful ways." I get more comfortable and lean on his shoulder. "So you've said." I giggle. "I'm glad to share the same name as you." ~ A girl, a perfectionist, named Avery Jones has been in love with her childhood friend's brother for as long as she can remember. He's never noticed her, though, he doesn't really notice anyone. He's sort of an insouciant philanderer. They couldn't be any different, the only thing that connects them is their names. Oh, by the way, his name is also Avery Jones; no relation. As crazy as it might sound, it's true. Anyway, it isn't until she becomes his mentor that he finally sees her. But will this new circumstance spark a connection or show just how different they are?

THANK YOU, Wattpad, for the HQ Love Watty Award! Concept: A mysterious young woman flees from her troubled past only to discover it is impossible to escape THE SECRET that haunts her. *PLEASE NOTE: This story was originally inspired by the movie "Sleeping With the Enemy". * * * * * "I would never, Steven," she promised, turning away from him in an attempt to protect herself. "I know you wouldn't," he screamed. Cupping her chin in his hand, he forced her to look at him. "Because I would kill you." His words hung heavy in the air. Sarah's heart sank into her stomach. No matter how many times she'd heard the menacing phrase, she could never get used to it. It had the same affect on her as the first time he'd thrown the ugly words in her face. The familiar sting of bile rose in her throat, and she knew she would deplete the contents of her stomach once she was locked in the safety of their master bath. 'If I make it through this time,' she agonized. Her biggest fear was that one day he would really lose his temper with her. Who knew what would happen then? *This story is an unedited first draft. Top Ranks: Action #1, Mystery and Thriller #1 *This story contains scenes of abuse and may be disturbing to some readers. I could hear her heart race and her breath get heavy. When she looked up at me, I saw tears run down her red cheeks. She flipped over onto her back and crawl away from me. I stood over her and I laughed at her helpless state. "I know a thousand ways to hurt you without spilling a drop of your blood. So, you either come quietly or in pain. Your choice?" I heard her cry and watched her tears stain her face. I almost wish Nik was here to see her cry in fear, it is so entertaining. Suddenly, I felt something pierce through my chest. My eyes widened. I gasped out in pain. My hands went to my heart. I inhaled some air quickly. I felt myself grow weak like I was falling to the ground. I was surprised that I was on the floor. I looked down at my hands. They had turned gray. I felt lifeless. The veins in my body rose to the top of my skin while the gray covered everything. The last thought I had before the end was one name. Nik? _________________________________________________________ Dawn Gilbert has just lost her parents. In one swift movement of my hand I reached behind Sapphire's neck and released her hair from the low ponytail it was in. She gasped at my action and looked at me with feverish eyes. I thought I saw the colour gold flicker in her eyes, for a few seconds before I lifted my hand near her face and tucked a strand of her wavy hair behind her ear, before I said: "I fell in love with you, the first second I saw you reading that Tolstoy book in the library." She looked up at me, her warm beige skin looked like it was glowing now and she said with pure sincerity in her eyes "per sempre, in ogni dimensione, per sempre in ogni vita, solo tu fino al mio ultimo respiro amore mio" It meant (Forever, in every dimension, forever in every life, only you until my last breath, my love) I snaked my hands around her waist and pulled her close to me. Before kissing her the way I wanted to all this time, i looked into her eyes and said "Me too my love, me too." My first novel is about soulmates. And reincarnation. About, how many bodies a soul has to live in before they finally become their true selves. And before they finally get to be with their soulmate. It's about how love has so many faces. It's about how we never know what roads life will force us to cross. And what emotions we will be gifted to feel. And the things we're blessed with that sometimes we neglect. It's about giving yourself the time to grow and evolve before you give yourself to someone completely. And it's about not to take the love you have in your life for granted.

"I was running from a beast. The branches off the trees cracked thunderously behind me. The wind and branches were whipping frantically against my body as I ran through the sparse forest, desperately avoiding overgrown roots and fallen trees. My lungs burned as the shadows crept up behind me, begging me to slow down, but I didn't dare. I ducked my head under a branch only for it to land directly next to my path within seconds. I could practically feel the beast's breath on my back, I used my last bit of strength to sprint. I nearly tripped on a branch before diving and rolling, scrambling to my feet. It was no use." Silver has suffered greatly, but their best friend, Onyx, has always been by their side. When a new face comes to town, how will it change them? What if their relationship could be more than friends? What secrets do their pasts and this new stranger hold? *TITLE AND COVER (currently from Pinterest, pretty sure someone made it with ai) WIP!!**
