Mercy Baudelaire has been locked up in a cell since her eleventh birthday when the government came to take her away from her family. The reason? To save their lives. Her childhood was spent on the run, escaping the hands reaching out to pull her into a world of deadly conspiracies and experiments. Her parents kept her hidden, constantly escaping watchful eyes. After years of running, time has caught up with Mercy leaving her trapped like a caged animal. For years she was tortured at the hands of a government too corrupt to care. Because of her gifts she fought so hard to conceal, freedom was nonexistent. Mercy lost all hope the day she had been taken.
As Mercy finds herself on the run once again, she encounters misfits with powers of their own; allies in a game of life she was sure to lose. Now, placing faith in freedom didn't sound too impossible to the hopeless young girl. But where faith exists, darkness often lies in wait. Mercy's enemies refuse to go down easily and not even time can save her now.

Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing.
