Miri Willow and her friend Bartholomew Raker are about to leave their home village of Streamvale Town and venture around the Primus Region - a place where all Pokémon exist at once. They and their Rival - Deisel Kennedy - are given their starters and Pokédexes by Professor Poplar.

In the region, they find a sinister organisation that must be defeated; Team Hive, a group of people who are instructed by their leader to obliterate all Pokémon Trainers so they can join the team.
