When Jessie Thompson leaves her home after her mother's death. She finds herself with a new best friend and "family". Only two questions linger in her mind. Who is her best friend really? It's almost winter, and Zak knows how dangerous it can be for a girl with a troubled past and mind to deal with sickness. And not only does Jessie fall ill, her best friend starts to get possesive over her. But the more Jessie hides from Zak, the more angry and protective he gets. Jessie's torn and dark thoughts start to flood her mind, almost making her make a mistake.
