Kyra is an innocent 12 year old girl.... until you see that she was raised on the streets. And the oldest of a group of children who live in the 'Understreets.' In the city of Aphrodite, everything is beautiful. Except Hephaestus, the Understreets. In the land of Aphrodite, families are controlled. if you want a child, you have to apply. You don't get to choose who you marry. The government does that. Four years later, Kyra has to apply for a husband. When she goes in for testing, she sees the horrors. Then she runs to join the Justice... a group of anti- Aphrodite fighters. There, she finds out that the city was named Aphrodite for a reason...
