The use of energy and recourses is wearing on the earth. Humans will not survive if they keep doing what they are doing. And when a race gets on the verge of extinction, mutation will proceed. This creates a stronger and more adapt evolution of humans that do not need the same resources as before.
All across the world the mutation is slowly taking place. Men in their early twenty learn how to control the complete capacity of their brain. Giving them no need for cell phones or vehicles, but also the power to levitate, change and manipulate the world around them.
When Jeri wakes up in the middle of the night after having a weird vision like dream she discovers her eyes to be glowing.
Having seen her own kidnapping in the dream she tries to understand why her eyes are glowing and the strange events happening around her.
However when she is taken away by a man who's eyes are almost an exact copy of hers she learns that she isn't the only one with a gift.
While fighting for her own life and freedom she discovers that her evil and bipolar kidnapper might also be her only protection against others.

Genetic enhancement is rampant in the society that Nyx lives in, and everybody is obsessed with superficiality. She is Enhanced, but she never chose this life. Now that Nyx is pregnant, her husband wants her daughter to become Enhanced. Nyx is desperate to do anything, even risk her life, to prevent this from happening. She takes this chance to escape her society and make their own life on the Outside where they should be safe. Izzy Belvin, a famous genetic engineer, is about to blast off to the "final" frontier to join the second Martian Colony, where she'll continue creating nutrient-robust insects for farms that will feed the colony and increase its sustainability. For Izzy's remaining days on Earth, her psychopharmacologist best friend, Nakomi, begs her to complete a bucket list before leaving as a means of honoring their friendship. The first bucket list item: going to one of Portland's psychedelic centers together and taking Vivectica ™, a potent psychedelic drug (synthesized by none other than Nakomi) that has become a popular form psyche-therapy. Izzy reluctantly agrees, and when she encounters a hyper-intelligent reptilian entity on her trip, she can't convince herself that he wasn't real. The days are ticking down until her trip, but Izzy, becoming obsessed with the creature, can't get over her feelings that either 1) she's given herself drug-induced psychosis right before her journey to the red planet, or 2) there's something out there, something beyond space... In the 22nd century, There are some mysteries that the world holds which would be better off left in the dark. Every day, something comes ever closer from the shadows, ready to destroy everything you hold dear and more. One such secret are the Nephilim. The Nephilim are genetically modified humans capable of shapeshifting, rapid healing, and, most importantly, rapid adaptation. Most of the Nephilim are, however, extremely dangerous, losing their humanity in the process, and become monsters that must be contained. One day, A Nephilim breaks free and escapes the facility it was housed in, leaving death and destruction in its wake. After breaking free, the Nephilim meets a young woman who is not of this world, a woman who attempts to befriend him. Will the Nephilim go on to become a monster, a beast who will usher in the end of humankind, or will it learn to love once again, and become something... "Close to Human" UPDATE! So after re-reading my story, I've noticed a few things I could do better, and thus, I unpublished it. My mother wasn't a mutant she wasn't born with the gift of evolution but she knew Charles Xavier from the past they shared. He ignored me at my mothers bequest due since mutants were a secret the majority of the world knew nothing about, she didn't want me in the institution. A week after my 9th birthday one night, I woke up to the smell of burning wood and furniture, I looked for my mother but saw a horror ill never forget a swirl of shadow had her in its hand. She was bleeding from her mouth and nose, when I went to help the shadow smacked me into the wall. My mom screamed in pain as I watched her turn into orange dust. The shadow spoke to me "Happiness is a lie. Life is horror. The light is always dying, all across the universe. The last star will flicker out someday. When it does, all that remains... shadow. And I will be its king, You have Xavier to thanks for this... " As it got closer I raised my hand and screamed a burning pain emanated from my hand and a bright light submerged the house... destroying 12 square blocks where were Xavier's X-men no where.
