Our favourite stories are about heroes, about good triumphing over evil. We want to hear epic tales of selfless people performing great deeds and overcoming insurmountable odds.

If that's the kind of story you're expecting, then you'd best get back to whatever alternate dimension you came from.

They call me Trig. I'm a bounty hunter.

My line of work might not be particularly honourable, but for a cyber-human outcast with a sizable chip on her shoulder (specifically, several thousand microchips) it's the perfect fit. In a galaxy full of pirates, rebels and thieves, an abomination such as myself is considered more machine than girl. My bionic appendages make me the ideal killer, the best you could ever be unfortunate enough to meet.

At least, that's what I thought up until the day I made a single, crucial mistake.

Now, the inhabitants of some half-baked planet are singing my praises and calling me their saviour. I could get used to this new, cushy lifestyle if it weren't for a pissed-off former employer gunning for both my head and total planetary domination.

The fate of the universe hangs in the balance. If ever there was a time for a hero, this would be it.

But I already warned you, this isn't that kind of story.

My eyes meet the set of eyes that had me irritated all evening before she quickly looks down, biting her lip. She doesn't look up after she places the tray of drinks in front of me but just stands as if waiting for me to say something. "Would you like to sit?" I ask before picking up my glass. "What?.." she answers, not knowing what to say. I make a come hither gesture. "Would you like to sit, love?" I asked softly, my voice raspy and low from the joint I was smoking. She straightens up a bit, before shaking her head, refusing my offer. I sigh before leaning forward for her to bend again. "You know, love, I know you were working and I also know that you should have clocked out hours ago but you didn't. You were just helping them out." She gasps in surprise, lifting her gaze to me as I said this. "I saw you on your way out with your bag before you decided to stay back after staring at me the first time. So, again, sweetheart, would you like to sit?" I ask with smirk on my face. She blushes before she decides to take a seat between Yareli and myself. I barely register Yareli getting up with a smirk and walking past us as my eyes are on this dark curly hair. ---------- Understanding the meaning of "capricious", came to Sage at the young age. She understood that life as we know it, is fickle and never plays fair. So she played the long waiting game when it came to life relationships. Staying in between. Friendships were valuable and clear to her that's why she had Bella and the terrible three. Question is, how long till you decide it's enough and make a choice?

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

The conclusion of The Runner series. ================================== Half a year has passed since the fall of Babel. In that time, tales of the Runner have drifted from truth into legend. There are stories of a thief who toppled an empire, whispers about a hero who sacrificed everything to free us from the iron grip of a madwoman. They say that the Runner is broken. They say that she is fearless. They say that no enemy stands a chance against her unstoppable army of warriors. They say that she fights because her veins run red with rebellion, but I know better. She fights because she has nothing left to lose.
