The fruition of my dwellings on and decidedly heavy dosages of high-pathos, noir-themed Michael Jackson songs (specifically, "Al Capone" and "Smooth Criminal"). "The Mourner" is a vignette of sorts and a one-shot at that.
Note: I did this almost solely for writing practice, so if you read it multiple times, you will likely notice slight sentence and wording changes (though nothing major, I promise) as I reread and edit this again, and again, and again as writers must.
Observatory and opinionated comments congruent with the laws of basic etiquette and general respect are welcome, all others will be ignored.
