Seventeen year old Scarlet Fennely has always lived an average life. She met her best friend, Alexander Adams, from a project her history teacher made her class do when she was fourteen for a "pen pal" grade. She grew up, continuing the tradition, while she knew little of her deeper connection to Alexander. Now, three years later at age 17, Scarlet and Alexander still communicate as much as possible despite their distance. Being older, she now knows that Alex and her can kindle their relationship more by meeting each other- and that is an exciting plan for the young, adventurous and ambitious girl.
Until she bumps into cocky, rich, bachelor- Tobias Elijah Maxwell, and suddenly he is attracted to this high school student, and he begins to pursue her.
Little does Scarlet know about the deeper, more complicated reason she is pulled to these two men in her life.
