17-year-old Ava runs away from home in order to avoid being arrested for a death she is responsible for. After she discovers a band of teenagers like herself, she is soon exposed to her special abilities and learns of her mysterious past. But no one is safe, and Ava and her companions must learn to trust one another if they are to defeat their powerful enemies, rescue Ava's younger sister from certain death, and save mortal life as we know it.
