Perrie instantly clicks with Josh Bennett, a rebellious British boy her age and also her fathers’ friend’s son. They become best friends, and soon “secretly in-love”. When he leaves her to visit England for a month, he comes back and leaves shortly after due to the laws in England and Alaska combined. She hasn’t kept in contact with him, but she doesn’t really have a way to do so. Before Perrie turns 18, she runs away to Cheshire, the place that Josh promised they’d live together happily at. While she's there, she gets a job at a popular bakery, trying to handle things herself without bothering her rich roommate for help.
