This is a world where trolls from Alternia now live on Earth and are accepted into society. Eve Rose has always felt pretty much always felt alone and misunderstood. She lives on her own even though she's only a freshman. She was diagnosed with depression and social anxiety at age 12 and is always wondering what might happen if she just ended it all. Then she meets 12 new trolls at her school. She first meets a nubby horned troll named Karkat. Karkat has always felt alone and different due to his mutation. He thinks Eve Rose might understand. Eve Rose also meets a new human kid named Dave Strider and he begins to take interest in the shy quiet girl. Will Eve Rose finally be able to feel true happiness in one of these boys?
