To cope with reality, Terry constantly repeats the following line to himself: You are an alien. A delusion that he's aware is a delusion, but a delusion he continues to tell himself because in it, he finds comfort. A cynical introvert, Terry keeps himself mostly isolated from the outside world and the people living inside it, reminding himself that no one can relate to him or his struggles because he's an alien. It's only when he decides to interact with a very strange girl that seems a bit alien herself does his world begin to change. At the most normal place possible, a cafe, Terry interacts with a quiet, reserved girl with a gentle smile that only goes by the bizarre name of Metsa. Their first exchange ends with Metsa asking Terry, do you think the forest ever gets sad. From then on, begins a journey of self-identity through distorted perception, talking raccoons, forest spirits, higher dimensions, and most importantly, Metsa herself.

Trepidation: Act 1 by CashewNutt12
10 parts Complete Mature
10,000 years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness. Trepidation: Act I is the first story in what is to be a much longer novel detailing the story of two individuals in the cold universe. Act I may contain disturbing content for some readers. Special thanks to Lilian (liliantherat@bsky.social) Elise S. (Seventh Bean) Colt Klassic C.W.K. Peregrine Nasturtium_K Chaz Shade For inspiration and your characters for novel adaptation. Trepidation, Act I and future acts, would not be possible without all of you. (I am awestruck at how well this has done. The read to vote ratio is something I never could have expected, and I thank both my friends and all new readers for current and continued support, even if the support is merely reading. Seriously, thank you.)
Promise of the World [Canaan, Book 1] by Chryiss_Rose
12 parts Complete
Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after twenty years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters both demons and spirits in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who just reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is an abnormal human with elemental powers, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world of magic, danger, mystery, and intrigue. But this not a game. That simple adventure is actually the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tear even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought she was. And not even the gods can change the destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity's existence. - Fantasy || Adventure || Romance || Action || Mystery || Drama || Science Fiction - Expectations for this Story: Immersive adventuring experience inside an intricate, magical world. Vivid imagery and deep characterization. Quirky magic system with mysterious elements and history. An original spin on the classic portal fantasy/isekai/waking up in another world interweaved with a science fiction twist. Scattered allusions and easter eggs. Builds expectations of future events to then defy that prediction. Slow-burn romance and complex, realistic relationships. Seriousness with a dash of humor. [August 3, 2021 Update Notice: The new revised and final version before book 2 will be up on August 8th on Royal Road. See you there!]

Fra From Home: Far From Unaware

16 parts Ongoing

Fra is shaped by self-awareness, trauma, contradicting thoughts and feelings, and by being a failed nihilist all at once. He sees the world with unforgiving clarity and retells his experiences with a disgustingly honest, almost too-confessional voice; shameful thoughts, taboo urges, the parts that make us "bad" friends, and the desires we can't shake off. Therapy was supposed to fix him, yet all it ever did was make him more painfully aware of everything wrong. He knew the causes, the patterns, the diagnoses-none of it helped. He walked into every session already knowing the answers and walked out with nothing to do with them. A mind that understands itself too well and still can't heal is its own kind of hell. Despite wanting to be numb, he isn't numb enough to stop caring-yet not hopeful enough to start living the way he, or society, insists he should. Knowing exactly what's wrong yet having no idea what to do with that knowledge is only one of the many tortures his emotional intelligence has handed him. [This story is a 1st person view based one, Fra and the author are not the same person characters Like Ivan or other ones may be based on real experiences but aren't real people and made up]
