Aequalis, they called it, the only place left after the Great War. A place where everything was equal, and no one had to work or beg for money. There was no shopping, no paying for anything...there was just peace. Or so it was supposed to be. The Council kind of ruined that for us, but at least we were well looked after...unless the Council decided to kidnap kids and use them for their own gain. But then again, when would they really ever do that unless you were on their list? I certainly knew that I wasn't...or so I thought.

We had a choice and took the money. We are two teenagers who are strangers to each other. Now everything is depending on us. We are being sent eight years into the future because World War III must be STOPPED. There's just one problem. These robots are like nothing we have ever seen before. Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. The Boy in the Gray Hoodie
I was never meant to leave that room. I had spent my whole life in there, imagining what it was like on the outside. I looked forward to the day when I would finally be allowed to leave. But that day was never supposed to come. Until James decided to keep his promise. He had always been there, on the other side of the glass. Waiting. The experiment wasn't over. He was still waiting for me to change. But I didn't change. Not until that night. It was dark, and there was rain. The sound of the car engine was loud, but the crash was louder. In the crash, I became something different. I changed. But not for James. This new part of me emerged for one reason; to save her. Mattie's Memories
Madelyn Vissor prefers to go by Mattie... at least she thinks she does. Having just moved across the country with her mother to escape dealing with unusual problems Mattie is not your typical teenager. She was in an accident, and no it wasn't a fender bender. Mattie's accident was more of a "your car has crumbled into an accordion and we need the jaws of like to save you" type crash. Miraculously she survives and almost completely recovers. As far as she knows, the accident only really took one thing from her - her memories. Hoping to spare her daughter the pain of living a life she doesn't remember; her mom moves her across the country for a fresh start. Giving up everything for her daughter, she only asking one thing in return. Mattie can't look up her accident. But when a new friend discovers an article about the accident, will she tell Mattie the secret her mother's been keeping? As a strange encounter in a park finds a way to force Mattie to question everything she thinks she knows, anything is possible. We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep. Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. I slip out of my corner and into the now empty hallway, shutting the doors behind me. I race as fast as I can away from that interrogation room and tears stream down my face. I've tried so hard to be good. I've tried so hard to fit in. What have I done to deserve this? Lost in thought, I can't look where I'm going. My face connects with a human-feeling thing. "Emma?" My life turned upside down when I was 13 My father was murder right in front of my eyes by his own brother My mother betrayed me and my father When I was 13 I was thrown in a cell and haven't seen the light since 5 years later I was finally let out of my cell And was told I had to fight for my life ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After the war that destroyed mostly every thing in America, in order to survive three major cities were built to help restore what was lost. To get everything back to normal again. Around those cities are small villages were the poor lives. The people who are barely surviving. The major city is called Alancia and that is were Victoria lives. Her father use to be the Leader of Alancia along side with his wife and brother. Until one day his brother killed him in cold blood and locked Victoria up in a cell. When she turned 18 she was offered a deal. Each year Alancia holds a fighting tournament for public display. The biggest and the baddest fight in this tournament and barely make it out alive. She has to fight in this tournament and if she won she had her freedom back. If she lost she would loose her freedom once again. Victoria knows she can't pass up this opportunity up. Even though she would be reminiscing old memories And meeting someone who can ruin it all Whatever the cost is she is willing to fight.
