Nobody. Can. Know. Severus Snape spoke those words to Albus Dumbledore after the death of the only woman he have loved, a woman who saw him as a friend and spurned him after he insulted her while hanging upside down by a tree. She never forgave him.

Someone did know. Someone found out and thought that harsh. She had to keep quiet. No longer. She had her ups and downs -- most of the former thanks to an adopted brother who championed her. The latter came from numerous sources. She trusted herself not to judge books by their covers. She was the one student he could not bully.

I just put out the first five chapters. I have 35 and a postscript.
