Arabella Knight has been an unlucky girl for some time now. When she was 14 her mother died.
A couple of months later and her dad "took to the drink"; as some would say. Then the abuse started slowly after that. So everyday from turning 15 to now, at 18 years old, she has dealt with the physical and verbal lashes from her father.
Then there's school. It doesn't get any better. There are eight people, the Superior Eight is what they call themselves, who are out to make Arabella's life a living hell outside of her house as well.
She just seems to never get a break.
Then there are some mysterious people that move to her little town of Whitewood, famous for its white tree forest (hence the name), and things start to change for her.
But it's not easier for her. Nothing ever has been and never will be.
