Finding Eden

My grandmother told me a story once, of a fearless hero that would turn everything around. He would come from the utopian city of Eden to save the innocent, and we could walk outside without fearing the dark. I used to cling to the legend like a life preserver in an ocean of grey, searching for that speck of beautiful blue. That was until she was murdered in the crossfire between two feuding gangs. I soon forgot about the fairytale she told me, trying to fend for myself in the streets.

It wasn’t until much later that I remembered that story. The night I attempted a one-woman rebellion and changed my fate forever.
