“You are… really making this so… difficult..,” he whispered just as I turned my back to him. His good hand went back to clutching his knee when I looked at him over my shoulder. “What am I making difficult..?” I replied softly, not facing him. I didn’t expect him to get up and I certainly did not expect him to stand in front of me. My gaze met his and I wondered if he knew how his eyes are so mesmerizing against the dusk surrounding. He did it again – searching my face for something but never seeming to find it. Jenny had lost herself in him first. And Valen had fallen in love after. But more than that. Much more. She was light, he was shadow.
