Elizabeth stays with her boyfriend, Liam, after the sudden death of her mother. He is all that she has left, all she can rely on. Liam seems like a "goody-two-shoes" type of guy in her eyes, but he is quite the opposite. Hiding his dark past from Elizabeth was a big mistake, and he doesn't realize it until everyone's lives begin to crumble around them, leading Liam back to his old ways.
