A baby's cry pierces the air as the midwife passes the baby to the awaiting hands of the father. Damon happily takes the baby from her hands holding her close to his chest not worried about the blood most likely staining his clothes. As quickly as the moment began it was lost, Damon was pushed out of the small room the baby still in his hands. "Stop! Wait! What's going on?" Damon yells trying to get back into the room. That's when he gets a look into the room noticing the many midwives rushing around attaching things to his wife lying on the bed, covered in blood and sweat from just giving birth. "Ruby! Ruby!" Damon yells over the loud cries of the baby in his arms. Damon stops yelling the shock to great. He hears the midwife's declare her dead, the blood loss to severe. In that one lonely moment Damon realizes that he will do everything he can to keep the little girl in his arms safe, no matter the cost. --------- Angels Mother died when she was only a few minutes old leaving her in the hands of her father, the great Damon Salvatore. Last time we spoke, he was your soul mate." He asked, still looking at me with a bit on confusion. "Let's be honest here, I'm my own soul mate." I sipped at the dark liquid again then shrugged, "besides, I probably don't have much of a soul at this point." Note: This is set in about season 3. I want to try to avoid spoilers for people who are not caught up with the series and may be watching it on Netflix.

I asked, standing with my hands on my hips. "No, I hope to get to know her when you're ready." He said, and I blinked, a little astonished that he would be so cool with me having a child. Most dominant male wolves are against the idea of their mates ever having been with another. Hope Mayson was only 18 when her whole world shifted, and her best friend died. She died and left everything to Hope, including her baby daughter, Elena. To keep Elena safe from her father, Hope took her newly adopted daughter and ran. For 5 years, Hope kept Elena safe until Hope's mate, Jack, came into their lives, and soon the past catches up with the present.
