Lindsey and Tristan are far from the average, carefree, teenage, high schoolers.
Tristan grew up with his aunt who refuses to talk about who or where his parents are. Shy, socially awkward, and clumsy, he has always been a target for bullies, who never seem to give him a break. 
Lindsey is quite different than Tristan. She lives in the moment and isn't afraid of consequences. Breaking laws, speeding down the highway on a motorcycle, or picking on the less fortunate have always been her game.  
But, they do share a few things in common; pain, feelings, and secrets.
After an intriguing conversation, Lindsey is curious if there's more than books on Tristan's mind. And Tristan is sadly mistaken when he thinks Lindsey is the typical rough-and-tough high-schooler.

Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. With everything seemingly piling up, Jay is very close to his breaking point, and late one night he is blindsided by the unthinkable, pushing him much too far and effectively planting in his mind a cruel and horrific plan for revenge.
