My life used to be simple. All I had to do was train to hunt werewolves and make some time to hang out with my best friend.

My life would have stayed simple, too, if I just hadn't gone out that one night and turned into the one thing that my family has been hunting for ages. The one thing that's in my blood to hate, to kill.

A werewolf.

Whoops.

But then -- trust me, it get's worse -- my Hunter blood and werewolf blood mixed. Meaning, if I didn't find a way to turn into a full werewolf by the next full moon (and a normal bite just doesn't seem to cut it) then very, very bad things are going to happen.

Adding a mate into the equation?

Worse times two.

Finding out that your parents, the people that raised you your whole life, weren't your actual parents was hard. Being told at the ripe ol' age of eighteen that you're the last living member from an Ancient Shifter line, the one responsible for creating the First Shifters, was inconceivable. Especially when a group of assassins were on their way to exterminate me simply for just existing. Kidnapped from my bed by three extremely stunning and grumpy Alphas, and forced to attend a special Shifter University located in the middle of nowhere, I have to navigate an unfamiliar and unknown secreted world while simultaneously trying avoiding those who want to use my lineage to enact an age-old curse. Join Nova Nyx as she's dragged into a world full of Shifters, Secrets, and Startling Surprises. ~~~ "Mates?" I repeated owlishly, blinking rapidly at the one worded bomb they just dropped on me "What are Mates?" Instead of answering my question, they just stared back at me in silence, arms crossed over their broad chests. I ignored their silence, choosing to focus on second part of their sentence. "And you're telling me I have three of them?" I gawked "How many are you supposed to get? I can barely handle myself and my life at this point and you want me to worry about three other people?" Of course the most annoying man I've ever met smirked at my bafflement. "I don't think it'll be such a hardship for you" he said, arrogance lacing his tone "After all, I hear these three Mates of yours are very self-sufficient." "Don't forget extremely gorgeous" his Buffon of a friend chimed in, winking at me "That's a plus for you Princess." "One," the third one growled out at me, finally speaking up and adding subsistence to the conversation, startling the banter from the other two "You're only supposed to be blessed with one Mate in your entire lifetime."

Michelle's life was almost perfect. Loving family, great college, perfect grades, good friends, and a crush on one of the sweetest guys she's met. The only problem is that a local werewolf has decided she's his mate. With the struggles of falling in love and discovering things about herself she didn't know, she also gets thrown in the middle of a fued between the hunters and the hunted. ***** He finally made eye contact and I couldn't tell what he was thinking, or how he was feeling at that moment. He had me shut out. "Dad won't let her in the pack." "I know." "Are you sure she's human?" I rub my eyes again, they were really beginning to burn. "Yes, unless I've gone absolutely insane." I stopped rubbing my eyes for a moment. "Maybe I am crazy? I feel like it." Caden sighed, "That's the mate bond. The longer you go without, the worse you get." I knew that. I didn't like to think about it, but we all grew up hearing about it. Going crazy, your body shutting down. Wolves weren't meant to be separated from their Soulmates. It physically and mentally drained them until they just one day gave up. I never thought it would happen to me since it doesn't ever actually happen. We all knew better. Unfortunately my human mate did not. Caden watched me from where he sat, he knew what I was thinking, and was thinking the same himself. We didn't know how much time I had. "Well, I for one, as Alpha, would not mind a human in our midst if she is your mate." I let a small chuckle slip out and leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms. "Is it because you're so accepting of humans, or because you insist on having me as your Beta?" Caden smirked at me, "Does it matter?"

They both have their secrets. Some worse than others, but all of them dark and thorny. Maybe the only thing that can save them from themselves...is each other. Cole had always been fascinated by the idea of having a mate. It seemed like such an easy thing. At least, that's what he thought. But that was before. Before he realized that he--a full blooded human--had a mate himself. And then, instead of easy...it seemed impossible. 1: Because his dad doesn't approve of humans mating wolves, despite Cole's sister. And 2: Cole's mate is...a man. God knows what his dad would think of that. But despite his father, despite the fact that he's a Hunter and Lionel is a wolf... Cole has a lot of things he doesn't tell people. How his mother is dead. How his sister is a Luna. How much he looks up to his dad even if the man doesn't deserve it. And now, how much he liked the feeling of Lionel's lips. But he would never tell anyone that. Especially Lionel. And wow, how that drives Lionel crazy. {His Moon spinoff, story retold}
