So often humanity has the opinion that hyper advanced civilizations won't face the problems that face us today. For the most part that is true. However there are some exceptions. Ideological differences will always be present and compromise is always the basis of any government. So what happens when a civilization with ships capable of destroying solar systems and can't overcome the ideological differences within itself? You have a war that could potentially end the universe.

If you loved someone, truly loved them, wouldn't it be better they hate you but are safe then them to like you but in danger? To die killing those who would ever try to hurt them then to live praying to gods you didn't think would listen that they'd be okay. Because in the end it is better that they wish you death and misery then them not being around to do it.
