Prologue

The dark stormy clouds hung low as a gush of wind erupted through the open window.

An under construction grey concrete building was in view; directly drawing my attention. A dark shadowy figure circled over the unfinished rooftop. My gaze followed its movement as it gracefully landed on its two feet; it was human. Somehow he was familiar to me even more than myself. The huge coal black wings which I knew felt like lush velvet, and ones which I had once fantasized would be wrapped around me blotting all the scruples and worries out of my life.

As soon as his feet touched the ground, his wings turned into a million shards of ash. A strong wind blew the ash away and in the blink of an eye there was nothing left to suspect that anything had happened there.

Ephraim moved to the edge of the rooftop. He closed his eyes, and opened his arms wide as if to welcome the cold breeze in embrace... after a second when he opened his eyes again, they weren't just the same; they had lost all their warmth and affection, that they once held.
