Identical twins, Abigail and Charlotte Orbis, have always been together and have never been apart.
At age one, they would talk to each other in a secret language they made up. When they were two, their mother left their father to raise twin girls. At age three, the two girls spent all their time together isolated from others, except their father. The year they turned four, they spent hours in the library reading books. As soon as they turned five, all their time was spent in their father's laboratory.
When they turned six, their father died and they were put into foster care. The next few years were a blur of different foster homes and running. It was the year that they turned eight, that they found a home they loved. That same year they met a girl named Willow, who became their best friend and constant companion. She told them that she could take them somewhere that they would be safe.
And even though their life has been filled with pain and heartbreak, they can still smile.
Because they know they are together and they have each other.
