I am just another faceless face among the shadows,
Another nameless name among the meadows.
But I can’t help but wish.
Wish for everything I never had,
My happily ever after…
Jade Pearson was invisible.
She could stand right smack in the middle of the most crowded corridors Perce Elementary and no one would ever notice her. Not the debators, nor the cheerleaders, and much less the jocks. Heck, even the nerds didn’t even realize that she even existed. Not even when she topped nearly every academic subject, not even when she got herself one of the most fashionable haircuts of the time. She was probably as invisible as the statue of Glenne Greensleeves tucked away far in a dusty corner at the end of the fourth floor corridor which no one ever goes to. Not even the cleaner. That probably explained why it was so dusty.
But simply put, she was as good as a ghost to the rest of the school.
And yet, she wished to be something more.
For people to notice her for once.
And soon, her wish was granted.
That was when she moved out of the country to live with her father after years of living with her mother who left the world of the living due to a rather tragic car accident. Though slightly mournful for her mother, she was ecstatic beyond words at her golden opportunity. She finally got the chance she had always wanted. She doubted that anyone would even realise that she was gone. Okay, her mother most probably will. Oh, and perhaps the girl who reads aloud the attendance roll every morning.
And so, headed off to her new school in another far-away country with her divorced father, she starts a fresh new page of her life, ready to be written into.
It’s just like a fairytale come true.
But life isn’t that easy.
And that’s where her story begins.
Sometimes you may just get more than what you wished for…
