In the city of Crea, everybody has a mark. Good or bad, it tells others what you've done to earn that mark. Some people earn their marks by saving people, others earn them by committing crimes. No matter who you are or where you live, you get a mark by the age of fifteen. Well, almost everyone.

Roxanne Vixen is about to turn fifteen, but she has one problem. She has no mark. She's done everything that other people do to get their marks, to no avail. Worse still, if she doesn't get her mark by her birthday, she'll be sent to Curi Academy, the school for all the teens without marks. No one leaves there until they get their marks. And it could take months--even years--to get your mark.

Roxanne's story of powers and fitting in with the crowd may not be what she asked for when she asked for her mark, but who knows? Maybe being Markless is better than anyone thought.

Exile: The Book of Ever by JamesCormier
30 parts Complete
Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.

Athena has no one. Orphaned at the tender age of twelve, she doesn't want anything to do with the Color War; a decades long war being waged between the vicious King of the new world and the magic users of the past. In a realm where a person's eye color directly relates to the magic they can control, Athena's green eyes mark her as the most powerful mage to have been born in centuries - and everyone wants a piece. Jax has everyone. Prince of the new world, he has no understanding of the war that rages outside the kingdom walls. After the violent death of his childhood tutor, Jax begins to realize the world around him is slowly spinning into all out chaos - and that he doesn't want to be King if his only legacy is cruelty. Their fates are inevitably intertwined, and together, Athena and Jax will be forced to face a prophecy that could leave their country in ruin or usher it into a new era of peace.
