I was finally at peace. The first day of summer. No worries. Serenity.
I put my earbuds in, hit shuffle on my ipod, and plopped down on my bed. My mother and father were out, Kenzie still had school until next week, but me, I was in a state of tranquility. No assignments due, no drama. Eleventh Grade was finally over. I grabbed my favorite book from the shelf, The Great Gatsby and got lost in the marvelous ocean of perfectly put together sentences.
ELLA, OPEN UP!! yelled a voice. Loud thumps sounded on the front door.
My bubble of equanimity burst.
Sophia, You're gonna break the door, I'm coming. I yelled.
There stood in front of me was my best friend, Sofia. Plastered on her face was the biggest smile I had ever seen. Her eyes were bright with joy.
You aren't going to believe this! she whispered.
What? I asked.
;I..I won US Vip tickets to see SHAWN MENDES., she screamed, her hands shaking at her thighs.
I smiled. Soph was a huge fan of this Mendes guy and I couldn't help but be happy for her. Her smile was contagious. I wrapped my arms around her. I could feel her nerves on fire.
I stepped back, taking it all in. Her blue eyes were glossed with tears. Her exuberant energy could be felt from miles away.
