This is a science fiction novel about a girl and an alien creature trying to escape a newly discovered planet light years away from Earth. This planet supports life along with alien creatures who want the astronauts as they're next meal. 100 years into the future scientists discover a new planet that seems to support life. This planet has been named Discordia named for its unique appearance and odd looking structures. It was the first time mankind discovered we were not alone in the universe- these beings are nicknamed Discords and they crave human flesh and blood ... The astronauts are dying and no one can do anything to stop it. One survivor remains on Discordia. Shira is a 21 year old girl who is the youngest woman to become an astronaut who survived the alien attacks. But they aren't the only things Shira needs to worry about- Shira finds out that the surviving astronauts aren't who they say they are. On her mission to survive she meets a companion a bright blue creature that resembles a fox. Crescentia is an alien creature of Discordia who finds Shira fascinating and wants to help her escape with one condition... That Shira takes Crescentia with her. In the distant future of the 28th century, mankind had survived near extinction then made it into the wider galaxy. With almost no other sapient life in the Milky Way to stop humanity's expansion. Before Mankind became the dominant force in the Milky Way, Earth was in shambles. Natural resources were nearly depleted, diseases were rampant and most of Earth's population was in poverty. Then by some miracle of discovery or a cruel cosmic joke, in the mid-23rd century when all humanity could do was go out into space to search for a new home, a small planet that was black as the void around it was discovered. The humans who landed on the little planet had nearly lost all hope until they stumbled upon unknown ancient ruins beneath the planet's surface where they discovered untold amounts of bizarre advanced technology. Earth and humanity were saved, and the little planet to thank for their salvation was named Umbra.
