Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate and Georgina used to have someone else in there group. When party girl, Emily King (played by Phoebe Tonkin) moves to the Upper East Side from Australia she is befriended by Blair and Serena and brought into their group of friends. 
This is set before the show Gossip Girl started and Serena went to boarding school.
