"POLITICAL SCIENCE 101" is a novel about two close friends, Mitch and Ray, best friends since childhood, who embark together (but somewhat secretly) into the world of politics. Mitch, a popular (but troubled) Political Science professor and Ray, an ambitious (but naive) civil rights attorney, decide to team-up and make Ray the ideal politician. But along the way, they find out the hard way what Mitch has known for years and what Ray refuses to believe: The way the political system actually works - bribery, corruption, sex, intimidation, lies, deception and murder.
As the two friends grow apart, they both endure deep personal struggles, striving to improve their lives, but their troubles only seem to compound themselves until Mitch eventually chooses the "absolute right" and Ray chooses the "absolute wrong." And in the end - as it often is in life - it appears that the bad guys may have won.
This is not a textbook about political science; the title stems from the protagonist being a political science professor, combined with the premise that he and his fellow protagonist are learning the difference between real and experiential politics rather than merely theoretical or ideal politics - the hard way.
This novel explores the deep underbelly of the political process, the shattering of their idealism, personal sacrifice, personal delusion, and the battle within all people of deciding between what is necessary and what is right - and what is neither, and what is both.
As both men struggle to maintain their morals, their principles, their values, and their friendship, they are challenged by conflicts new and old, small and large, personal and public.
Amyra and Rayyan are two souls who were never meant to meet, yet destiny has a way of bringing the unexpected into focus. Amyra's life takes a sharp turn when she moves back to Pakistan after spending her entire childhood overseas. Faced with the challenges of adjusting to a new culture, battling societal expectations, and navigating the complexities of family pressure, Amyra feels like an outsider in her own country. Rayyan, a young professor and final-year Master's student, is both reserved and captivating, carrying a unique gift-one that allows him to glimpse into people's pain and hidden truths with just a glance. Yet, when his eyes meet Amyra's, there's nothing. No visions, no flashes of emotion-just a silence that stirs something deep within him. This unexpected void creates a mysterious connection between them, one neither can fully understand but both are drawn to explore.
As their lives intertwine, they find themselves drawn into a journey where their spiritual gifts are constantly put to the test. Together, they must navigate the obstacles life throws at them-family pressures, societal judgment, and betrayal from loved ones-all while their unique abilities bring them closer and challenge their understanding of the world around them. Their bond deepens as they uncover truths about themselves and each other, using their gifts not only to survive but to heal.
In the backdrop of their everyday struggles-academia, friendships, and managing their respective responsibilities-Amyra and Rayyan must stay ahead of the challenges the universe presents. Their spiritual connection becomes the key to tackling the difficult realities of life and love, proving that sometimes the most unexpected journeys lead to the most beautiful destinations.
This novel explores the power of destiny, love, and self-discovery, woven into a tale of two people whose spiritual gifts pull them into each other's orbit and guide them through the trials life sets before them.
