Irene spends her days among the living, trying to understand life. It is a rule of hers to never watch over one person for too long, especially not those who are on the verge of joining her, but Nolan seems to be an exception.

Nolan wasn't intending on skipping out on his own high school graduation, contrary to his Biology teacher's beliefs. He had so many plans left for his life: go to college, graduate, get married, have a family, and so much more, but the tumor that formed in his brain had a different plan in mind, a plan that made all of what Nolan wanted for his life impossible.

Nolan's dying- he knows it, the doctors know it, and most of all, Irene knows it. And the scary part is that after a while, death starts sounding like a better option than continuing to fight.

Irene continues to silently cheer him on. But her cheering is half-hearted at times. Because when the boy you think you're falling in love with is dying, and you're already dead, it's hard to see his upcoming death as a bad thing.

𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐗 𝐉𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐯𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐧. In a world that screams, I stand in despair, My voice drowned out, lost in the air. Chains of tradition tighten each day, I long to escape, but I'm forced to stay. Each breath I take feels heavy and torn, Every mistake a scar I've worn. I crave a sky where I can be free, Away from the walls that imprison me. For now, I sit with my heart in pain, Silent, yet screaming, again and again. Though shattered, a spark in me still survives, Dreaming of freedom where my soul can rise.
