What would it take to break your sanity? that final push to send you tumbling over the edge into a place you can never return from? For a young girl with mysterious powers shes been careful for years only finding herself teetering on the edge a few times but always able to coax herself back.
She never uses her powers for anything pretending she doesn't have them and she usually looses control but living in a junk yard most people don't notice if she looses it in the middle of the night... except that she's been noticed and is being constantly watched.
Its hard to trust those who hide behind masks.
And Phoebe wears one everyday, not a physical mask, but a mask to hide her emotions to hide who she really is a mask she cant bear the thought of removing on her own because of the darkness that lies underneath... just because you have bad thoughts sometimes doesn't make you a bad person right?....right.
I do not own any of the characters save for Phoebe/ Ember and possibly other oc i might make up along the way. All rights go to the appropriate authors for the other characters and the batman universe

(Rewrite to Rise of the End.) Specter came to Gotham for one reason and one reason only: to kill Batman and 'purify' the city. Of course she would need some help though. DC Series Book One "No don't..." But her arms go up and the mesmerizing portals appear. Through the portal closest to them, the boys can see grass and park benches where concrete and pavement should be. She jumps through and as she does, the portal in front of them collapses. At the ripe age of eighteen, Ria is on the streets, fending for herself and dealing with powers she can barely control. It is while on patrol that Tim Drake and Damian Wayne spot this camouflaged girl of the night and try to stop her as she breaks into a local convenience store, not to steal the cash but the food. After obsessively tracking her for a week, Tim finally catches up with her, finding her holed up in an abandoned building with another younger girl she is trying to care for. Bruce Wayne doesn't hesitate to take them in, but Ria's mistrust of them leads to tension in the house. Her powers are dangerous, volatile and no matter how hard Tim tries, he can't get her to open up to him. As Ria's shadowed past slowly catches up with her, the Bat Family finally realizes that they have no idea what kind of forces they're dealing with. Wanting to be a superhero and becoming one, are two completely different things. But becoming the opposite? That's way easier. And sometimes it's not on purpose. Fate didn't want me to be a hero. I was a fairly normal girl, growing up in Central City. A city where superheroes and super villains didn't exist... until the particle accelerator exploded. Many people were turned into these metahumans, me being one of them. Likely one of the only changed nine year olds at the time. My parents were both scientists for Star Labs, being two of the many others that died in the blast. Needing to get away, I decided to move to Gotham. A good city to hide in. Maybe it wasn't the best city to move to, but, in the end, I'm glad I did. In the crazy town, I was adopted by the two craziest people there. The Deranged Duo, Harley Quinn and Joker. "Rescued by villains, who knew?" I say. "Villains rescue fellow villains," Joker says. "Sounds funny coming from you," I scoff. "Aww, is that the way you should treat your saviors?" Joker teases. "I could've taken them," I scoff. "Why did you save me?" "We watched you take out the last group of thugs," Harley says. "We've been looking for a protégé, sorta like how Batsy has that sidekick, Robin, was it?" Joker grins. "We like you. You're funny." ... Insanity
What if Joker had a daughter? One raised by Gotham... She was abandoned. She's angry. She want's revenge. She hates her father... But does this mean she works with the side of the Angels? Well, let's just say, there's a reason her name is Sanity. --Note-- This story is going to be re-written eventually, while this story will be up until the other version is finished (I won't be publishing it until then) this story will be deleted once that is done. There will be notice for that, so you know what is happening, but chances are you may need to re-read the book a second time following this. Especially, since I plan on actually having a sequel to this one complete eventually. --As a side note-- Only 5 characters are my own: Sanity, Ryu, Avalon, Jeremiah, Genevieve. All other characters belong to DC, I cannot stress that enough. In addition to this I have also used actual quotes from the Original Comics for the characters that have said them, as well as used some of the same origins/storylines to give the other characters (DC's) more of an identity e.g. 'Death in the Family' storyline// Where Joker kills Jason... Or 'A Killing Joke' storyline//Barbara getting put in a wheelchair and the Joker's Origin... Finally, the Joker's 'real' name//'Batman Mask of the Phantasm'. There are other parts as well but those are the main ones and a few of the examples.
