Will Solace already has everything figured out. He could see his own future vividly, a future that was planned for him. He was to grow up and take over his mother's company, get married to another female heir of another successful business, and make sure that the Solace line never dies out. But he doesn't want that, he doesn't want any of that. Yet, he remains positive that everything will be okay for him in the end.

Nico di Angelo is miserable. His future is unclear. He couldn't see himself grow up nor even get to college. His head is a mess, he feels like he's dying bit by bit, like fading away into the void of the unknown. But he wasn't always like that. It had been a few years since his sister had died, leaving him to the care of Mr. Brunner, a crippled man who facilitates a summer camp mostly for orphans, but includes everyone. His moody demeanor drives people away from him, scared that they too might turn into someone like him.

Two different people with two different personalities. One who has his future written on a calendar, and one who doesn't even own a calendar at all. The Fates are playing a new kind of game, and that game includes them.
